Sick of operating below everyone's radar -- they've weathered both the post-Strokes movements (A Lesson in Crime) and Saddle Creek's big moment (Elephant Shell) -- these indie melodists got really serious with 2010's excellent Champ. Here, Tokyo Police Club follow that up with an album that's both their poppiest (the Free Energy-like single "Hot Tonight," "Miserable," "Tunnel Vision") and artiest (opener "Argentina" has three movements in almost nine minutes). With no musical concept, they just pound through in a quick and catchy 33 minutes -- and this time they demand attention.
